Hello. I'm Sakurako, a staff member at ERIDA ELDA.
This time, we will explain how to choose a diamond that is good value for money!
*Diamond price and brilliance (1) The quality of a diamond is determined by the 4Cs.
(2) As the 4Cs improve, the price rises.
(3) Improving the 4Cs will increase brilliance.
(1) and (2) are correct.
(3) is half a lie and half true.
As the 4Cs improve, the brilliance reaches a plateau at a certain point and price and brilliance are no longer proportional.
* A certain level of quality = bridal quality
When it comes to bridal quality, such as that used for engagement rings, you cannot tell the difference in brilliance due to the difference in the 4Cs. The difference between VVS1 and FL does not affect brilliance. The difference between D color and F color has nothing to do with brilliance. In fact, you cannot even tell the difference between Triple Excellent and Very Good.
* Quality worth the price = Casual quality
When it comes to casual quality, the price and brilliance are proportional, and the brilliance is "worth the price" or "suitable for the price." You can see the difference between a good cut and a triple excellent cut. When the diamond is SI2 or below, inclusions are increasingly visible to the naked eye. Also, diamonds that are K color or above will obviously turn yellow.
〇 Best value for money diamonds Diamonds with good value for money are those where the brilliance plateaus as the 4Cs (quality) are increased. After reaching the plateau, the price increases, but there is no significant difference in the brilliance. Diamonds beyond the plateau are also called "over-spec diamonds."
However, in Japan, even if an "over-spec diamond" has the same brilliance, many people still prefer the "highest quality."
In other countries, many people don't want to pay extra if the sparkle is the same.
